Topographic Support for the Construction of new units at the operational Athens College for TERNA S.A.

    Athens College – “D. Daskalopoulos” Arts Building & Underground Parking Station with Landscaping

    An extensive and technically complex educational and supporting infrastructure upgrade project is being implemented at the Athens College facilities, spanning a total area of approximately 15 acres within the campus. The project is being constructed by TERNA S.A. and includes two distinct but functionally interrelated sub-projects, combining educational, cultural, athletic, and traffic functions.

    The scale of the intervention, combined with the continuous operation of the school complex during the works, makes the project particularly demanding in terms of coordination, geometric accuracy, and systematic technical documentation.

    Sub-project A

    Construction of New Two-Story Education Building "D. Daskalopoulos Arts Building" (with Basement)

    The first sub-project concerns the construction of a new two-story education building with a basement, which will house classrooms, art workshops, an exhibition space, and other educational functions. The building is integrated into the existing urban and functional fabric of the campus, requiring strict adherence to geometric specifications and continuous monitoring of the design implementation.

    TopograF undertook the complete topographic support of the project. At the beginning of our collaboration, the majority of the excavations had already been carried out. At this stage, we proceeded with a detailed survey of the existing condition of the excavation pit, accurately recording levels, boundaries, and geometric characteristics, in order to provide documented support for the excavation handover process by the construction company.

    Subsequently, our contribution extended to all construction phases of the structural frame. Staking out of foundations, axes, basement elements, vertical structural elements, and slabs was performed, alongside continuous elevation and geometric checks. Our constant presence at the construction site ensures implementation accuracy and adherence to the prescribed tolerances at every stage of the superstructure.

    Sub-project B

    Construction of Underground Parking Space and Landscaping of Outdoor Green Spaces and Athletic Facilities

    The second sub-project concerns the construction of a large-surface underground parking area, as well as the overall landscaping of the outdoor green spaces and sports facilities developed at ground level, covering a significant part of the total 15-acre area.

    The topographic support included the precise definition of excavation limits, foundation level checks, staking out of structural basement elements, and continuous elevation monitoring during the concreting phases. Simultaneously, for the landscaping of the surrounding area, detailed staking out of final surfaces, drainage slopes, curbs, planting boundaries, and sports surfaces was performed, ensuring proper functional integration and faithful implementation of the architectural and technical designs.

    The complexity of the project lies both in the scale of the intervention and the geometric precision required for the coordination of underground and above-ground structures into a single entity. TopograF, using modern topographic equipment and an organized work methodology, provides continuous technical support and reliable documentation throughout the construction process.

    Upon completion of the individual phases, we proceed with final surveys and the preparation of as-built drawings, accurately depicting the final constructed project.
